Human Rights Due Diligence – Child Labor & Protecting Young Workers

Duration: 45-60 min Intermediate Certificate Course Updated Feb 2026

About course

The course covers how child labor is defined under international standards, what the ILO conventions and UN Guiding Principles say about corporate responsibility, which regulatory regimes are already in force, and how to apply practical due diligence methods in your specific role. By the time you finish, you will have a clear picture of your obligations and a set of concrete actions you can take the next time a relevant question lands on your desk.

Section 2: The Regulatory & Legal Landscape

  • Understand which binding laws apply to your company right now and what each one requires you to do.

Section 3: Identifying Risk in Your Supply Chain

  • Build a risk map using country, sector, and supplier data, and recognize the red flags that demand a closer look.

Section 4: Conducting Due Diligence

  • Apply the OECD six-step due diligence process, design audits that actually find problems, and engage suppliers effectively.

Section 5: When You Find a Problem

  • Know exactly what to do in the first 48 hours after a finding, how to protect the child involved, and when to escalate.

Section 6: Reporting & Disclosure

  • Produce GRI 408-aligned disclosures that accurately reflect what you did and hold up to regulatory scrutiny.

Section 7: Knowledge Check

  • Test your understanding of key concepts across all six sections through a series of question assessments.
