CSDDD Operational Playbook

Duration: 45-60 min Intermediate Certificate Course Updated Feb 2026

About course

CSDDD is not a reporting exercise. It is a transformation of enterprise risk management systems. The Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive requires companies to identify, prevent, mitigate, and remediate adverse impacts across their entire operations and value chains. For many organizations, the challenge is not awareness of the law. The challenge is the absence of operational workflows, governance structures, and accountability mechanisms that make compliance real.

This course translates CSDDD's regulatory requirements into a seven-step operational model. You will work through each step in sequence, from establishing governance and accountability to integrating disclosure, building the skills to identify supply chain governance gaps and develop a compliance roadmap your organization can actually execute.

Course Outline

Section 1: Regulatory Deep Dive

  • Ground yourself in CSDDD's scope, thresholds, timelines, and enforcement mechanisms, and understand how the directive aligns with CSRD, OECD, and UNGP frameworks.

Section 2: Governance and Accountability

  • Establish the internal ownership structures, board-level oversight, and cross-functional accountability mechanisms that make CSDDD compliance an enterprise function rather than a siloed compliance activity.

Section 3: Risk Identification

  • Apply a structured methodology to identify where adverse human rights and environmental impacts are present or plausible across your operations and value chain.

Section 4: Impact Assessment

  • Assess identified risks using the severity and likelihood framework to determine which impacts require priority action and what type of response each warrants.

Section 5: Prevention and Mitigation

  • Implement appropriate preventive measures for potential impacts and corrective action plans for actual impacts, using contracts, capability building, and commercial leverage effectively.

Section 6: Remediation

  • Understand the company's obligations when harm has already occurred, including the forms of remedy available, the role of an effective grievance mechanism, and the non-retaliation requirements that make it function.

Section 7: Knowledge Check

  • Demonstrate your understanding of course concepts by working through ten scenario-based questions drawn from realistic supply chain situations.

Course Outcome

At the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Translate CSDDD regulatory requirements into operational workflows your organization can implement.
  • Build a risk-based due diligence system that prioritizes effort according to the severity and likelihood of adverse impacts.
  • Identify supply chain governance gaps across data visibility, accountability structures, and supplier engagement.
  • Develop a compliance roadmap that sequences the seven operational steps into a manageable program.
